COACHES

Sol is our Academy & Coaching Strategy Director. He has recently retired from playing international cricket for Zimbabwe where he has represented his country in all formats.

You may have seen him representing Zimbabwe at national level, including the 2015 ICC World Cup – where he hit that massive 103m 6 out of the ground against South Africa!

He was also in the Melbourne Renegades line up in 2013/2014 and has been involved in Victorian Premier cricket clubs Essendon and Northcote. He is now the development coach at Northcote Cricket club.

Sol is a Level 2 CA Coach

Rachel manages the coaching programs at Cutting Edge Cricket.

Rachel is a senior assistant coach and head batting coach at Preston CC in the VSDCA.

She has coached the girl’s and boys Northern Falcons and the NMCA U12s rep team.

In 2017, Rachel was involved in the Crusaders Outright Program, helping with the coaching at the MCG.

In June-July 2017, Rachel toured Sri Lanka and Malaysia coaching an U13 boys team of 16 players. 

In June 2019, Rachel went to the UK with the Crusaders where she had the opportunity to play against English sides.

Rachel is also host of 'The Coach Rach Podcast' which is a podcast that takes a look at all aspects of cricket including playing, coaching and administration. 

She holds a Diploma in Sport Development, Certificate IV in Fitness, Bachelor of Sport Coaching and a Master of Sport Business and Integrity.

Rachel is a Level 2 CA Coach

Jeff is a veteran cricket coach with over 35 years experience and an extensive knowledge of the game.

In his younger days, Jeff played at Collingwood VCA, captain-coached at Coburg CC and played and coached at Downend CC (UK).

He was Director of Coaching at Preston CC in 2017/18 and worked with Cricket Victoria as a Coach Educator for over 10 years.

Jeff is currently batting coach at Riverside Cricket Club in the DVCA.

Jeff is a Level 2 CA Coach

Alex has 10+ years experience in coaching cricket at both junior and senior level. He was head coach of Preston CC in the VSDCA for 4 years and has held coaching positions with the Northern Falcons, NMCA and is head of the Preston CC Pathway Development Squad.

He is passionate about player development in all areas of the game and specifically spin bowling.

This season he has taken up the role as the Rep Manager for the NMCA.

Alex is a Level 2 CA Coach 

Liam is one of our all-rounder coaches who specialises in bowling.

He debuted for Preston CC First XI in 2016 and won the First XI MVP for Season 2017/18. 

He has held coaching positions with Preston CC as assistant coach of the Preston JG Craig (formerly known as HATCH) program. He has recently been assistant coach for the Northern Falcons U16 & U18 boys. 

This season he is an assistant coach at Preston CC where he will be looking after the all rounders.

He is very driven in assisting all cricketers in any way possible to help further themselves. He has a Bachelor of Education (P-12). Liam is a Level 2 CA Coach

Ryan is our coaching cadet. You will find him coaching the little crickets and children as well as helping out our senior coaches with group and 1 to 1 coaching.

Ryan has been heavily involved as an assistant coach in the DVCA winter academy program since 2017. He was head coach of the DVCA U12 Josh Browne Plate team in the 2020 VMCU carnival.

 

In his playing career, he has played two consecutive years in the 1st XI for Montmorency CC and has been involved in four junior premierships. This season Ryan is playing at Northcote CC in the Victorian Premier competition. Ryan has also represented the DVCA three times in the VMCU carnival.

With Ryan's recent playing and coaching experience within the DVCA representative program, he has the relevant knowledge and is well placed to help children reach local representative level.

 

Ryan has held a number of leadership roles and is currently studying a Bachelor of Sports & Exercise Science at LaTrobe University. He is also a tennis coach and has completed the Tennis Victoria 'Future Leaders' course.
